In 2025, Devil’s Soul was born from a surge of new inspiration and a desire to push things heavier, louder, and more intense.

After writing a wave of new material that leaned into the heavier side of his guitar playing, Peter Scheithauer began imagining the ultimate lineup — not just great players, but great people: friends, professionals, no ego, no drama, and the right attitude.

The first spark came through longtime friend James LoMenzo, who connected Peter with drummer Chris Adler. A fan of Chris’s legendary work with Lamb of God, Peter could immediately hear his power and precision driving the new songs. One demo was sent to James, James passed it to Chris, and by the next day Peter and Chris were already talking.

For bass, only one name came to mind: Johny Chow of Stone Sour. For second guitar, the choice was just as clear: the almighty Juan Garcia of Body Count. Peter had known both musicians for nearly 30 years, and beyond their world-class musicianship, they brought exactly what Devil’s Soul needed — friendship, experience, attitude, and zero ego.

With the foundation locked in, the final piece was finding a voice that could match the weight of the music: someone who could growl with power, sing with melody, command a stage, and bring the right look and energy. That voice arrived with Jon Rioux of Defined, whose passion for heavy music and live performance made him the perfect frontman for the band.

Devil’s Soul is built on heavy riffs, powerful grooves, killer musicianship, and a brotherhood-first mentality. This is a band made by friends, fueled by passion, and driven by the love of loud, honest, heavy music.

The soul is alive.
The devil is in the riffs.
