Attic was born in 2010, crafted from a shared fascination with sinister music, horror films and literature, spiritualism, and the mysterious allure of occultism. This German heavy metal outfit swiftly bonded over their mutual adoration for genre giants like Mercyful Fate, Pentagram, Judas Priest, and Helstar, dedicating themselves to the art of blending traditional heavy metal with heavy riffs, twin-guitars, high-pitched vocals, and a slight black metal influence to create a distinctly dark and dense atmospheric presence.

In early 2012, Attic released their self-titled demo EP. The EP received an overwhelming response from both critics and fans. Boosted by this early success, Attic took to the road, impressing with live performances at numerous club shows and prominent metal festivals throughout the year.

Their ascent continued with the release of their first full-length album, The Invocation, in December 2012 on Ván Records, solidifying the band's position in the metal community. Lauded as “Album of the Month” and “Newcomer of the Year” by Germany’s Rock Hard magazine, the album deepened their exploration into themes of occult darkness. To support The Invocation, Attic toured with The Devil's Blood and continued their momentum with extensive runs across Germany, Benelux, and Scandinavia in 2013, as well as appearances at major underground festivals like Keep It True, Rock Hard Festival, Hell's Pleasure Metalfest, and Party.San Open Air.

The departure of drummer Roman in winter 2013 led to the recruitment of JP, ushering in a new era for Attic. With a revitalized lineup, the band began crafting their first concept album, Sanctimonious. Released in summer 2017 via Ván Records, Sanctimonious was a testament to Attic’s ability to tell compelling stories wrapped into a concept album. To promote Sanctimonious, Attic toured with black metal legends Marduk on three tour legs across more than 30 countries.

The band faced another lineup change in 2019 when guitarist Rob departed, and Max Povver joined as a permanent member. Despite the global disruptions caused by the pandemic, Attic made a triumphant return to the stage with festival performances at Wacken Open Air and their first tour in South America, followed by two extensive European tours, culminating in their U.S. debut at the Texas-based Hell’s Heroes Festival.

In spring 2024, Attic released their third full-length album, Return of the Witchfinder Once again, the band delivers their signature Attic sound, this time incorporating new and even heavier elements, including eerie melodies, a dark atmosphere, and a slight black metal influence. Return of the Witchfinder is both a return to their roots and more extreme than The Invocation and Sanctimonious.

Currently, as of 2025, Attic is energetically planning further extensive tours. With a relentless spirit and an undying passion for their craft, Attic continues to spread their black arts to the world.
